"One-Way Waters" is an interactive animated film that explores the journey of communicating with loved ones across language barriers. The story centers around a young character who struggles to communicate with his grandmother who speaks a different dialect, set against the backdrop of a river - a metaphor for the communication gap. The audience interacts through simple keyboard input to navigate through the narrative. Mandatory voice participation further immerses the audience and adds a personal touch to the story. The goal of the project is to immerse the audience in a story that is not only entertaining, but also provokes reflection on the importance of family connection, listening, and understanding, especially for older generations." One Way Water" invites viewers to reflect on their own relationships, the challenges posed by language differences, and the value of working to bridge these divides. The experience is designed to celebrate the richness of intergenerational bonds and the unique insights provided by elders, emphasizing the power of empathy and communication in strengthening family bonds.
